The Cadence Anderson Series: Set In Australia

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Katie Teller to my blog. Hers is the first of three guest posts that I will be hosting as part of the From Australia With Love blog hop.

When I first dreamed up the concept of this two book series, it came to me as a what if. What if I’d been smarter in high school? What if I could do things over? What would change? Who could I touch in a more positive manner? What friends could I keep? And so Cadence was born.
But this what if only had one place it could be set: Australia. If I wanted to make an honest, heartfelt story about a young woman’s chance to do things over, I needed to do it in an environment I was familiar with and could build a solid foundation.

So Cadence grew up around the Emu Plains area, about as far west of Sydney as you can get before you hit the City of the Blue Mountains. Austin, her husband, grew up in Fremantle, Western Australia, and James grew up around Cranebrook (Western Sydney). Cadence grew up in this area because I spent most of my teen years around that area and am very familiar with everything there.

The high school Cadence and James attend looks like my high school, Penrith High School. The upper and lower quads, admin offices, math hallway, football field—every inch of the school they attend looks like PHS in my mind. There are even several scenes that are based on things that really happened to me.
So when you read, you will become acquainted with my hometown, my history, and my upbringing. I love Australia!

Book 1, Deceptive Cadence, is lined up for release in US summer/Aus winter of this year.”
